The Young Brandeston Web Site

This section of the village site was created in March 2008 and is managed by young people for young people. Just like the rest of the site, it depends on contributions from people in Brandeston so we hope that you will send in content and ideas (there is no age limit!!) The more people that take part - the better it will be!!

Have Fun!

Family Pizza Night

Friday 7November 2008

The Queen’s Head Brandeston

The Queen’s Head in Brandeston introduced a fantastic children’s menu a few months ago and has been having “Family Nights” on the first Friday of each month ever since. Friday 7th November saw a complete change to this. Alan chose 3 children’s names from a hat and invited them to join his head chef, Steve, in the kitchen to cook pizza for themselves and their families (and maybe some other lucky customers visiting the pub!).

The children who were lucky enough to be chosen were Maddie Hudson, Matthew Bange and Kate Fletcher.

It took Steve two days to prepare the pizza bases. The children then put the toppings onto the bases - tomato puree, cheese, vegetable and pieces of chorizo sausage and they were cooked in the ovens. (Recipes to follow on the website).  Maddie, Matthew and Kate then served them to the waiting families with bowls of chips and salad.

The comments were all very good: “Very nice, thumbs up” was the comment from Henry Bange. “Very nice, delicious” was the comment from Jemma Churchill. Poppy Ferrar, aged 9, says, “Yummy, the best pizza was the meat - nice and spicy.”

Matthew, Maddie and Kate say that they would cook anything if they got picked again. They all loved the evening and couldn’t decide what part they had enjoyed the most – just that they loved every bit of it.

We would all like to thank Alan for a great evening – and look forward to the next one!!

Photos from the event can be seen on the Queen pages.
