A public meeting with Anglian Water and Suffolk County Council was held at the village hall on 02 December 2013 for residents to be advised of AW’s plans for improvements to the sewage discharge pumping from the village. A small number of residents attended. AW explained their intention to carry out works in 2014 at a cost of around £1 million. Clearly this is expected to make a huge improvement to the system. Details of their plans are shown on the Brandeston website (see the entry below dated 12 Dec 2013) and are available form the parish clerk.
Further discussions about surface water drainage in Mutton Lane at this meeting led to a meeting yesterday (06 January) between parish councillors, some residents of the Lane and with Suffolk County Council Highways and Flood Risk staff. Following this meeting SCC will be carrying some works to ensure that the drain tube crossing the Lane and the ditch (on the southern edge of Richard and Mary Mitson Woods’ property) are clear. A number of suggestions were made regarding measures that residents themselves could carry out.
